U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder required Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Drafter to support custom engineering opportunities within an Aerospace, Defense & Government business unit. The Mechanical Drafter will work closely with customers, mechanical and electrical engineers, internal teams, and contract manufacturers to define, document, design, and deploy products tailored to specific customer requirements for large-scale turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical drafting and design experience, is highly proficient in CREO, and has a thorough understanding of mechanical design principles, CAD tools, GD&T, and manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities Generate custom mechanical drawings, designs, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Design, model, and prototype mechanical system components for test and measurement solutions. Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to gather system and structural requirements. Calculate and determine appropriate dimensions, weight limitations, and material requirements. Translate customer and engineering requirements into detailed mechanical designs. Generate specification documents and detailed design documentation. Interface with contract manufacturers and external suppliers to develop and produce custom mechanical designs. Collaborate with internal personnel and engineering teams throughout the development process. Support custom engineering opportunities from requirements gathering through design and deployment. Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support project objectives, potentially up to 25%. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics. Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience in a Mechanical Drafting role. 3-5 years of experience with CREO, with a high level of proficiency. Thorough understanding of fundamental mechanical design principles and processes. In-depth knowledge of 2D and 3D design tools, including: CREO Pro/E SolidWorks Proficient knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles. Demonstrated history of generating detailed engineering drawings and design documentation. Successful experience working with external suppliers and/or contract manufacturers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and technical drafting abilities. Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder) with the ability to work on ITAR-controlled projects and qualify for applicable DoD clearances. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with fixture and tool design. Familiarity with thermal analysis and stress analysis. Knowledge of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) methodologies. Knowledge of RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) methodologies. Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing techniques, including: Machining Stamping Extrusion Casting Sheet metal layout Knowledge of ESD principles. Basic knowledge of electrical design principles, including: Grounding Shielding Cable design What We're Looking For The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to: Be highly detail-oriented with strong technical drafting skills. Pay:
$29.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
