A Mechatronics Engineer combines skillsets common to mechanical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, telecommunications engineering, systems engineering and control engineering. Often focuses on projects where physical movability or use case flexibility is prioritized. Designs, tests, studies and inspects complex machines including cars, drones, industrial machinery and even automated submersibles.
Tesla is seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer, you will design and commission cutting-edge automated lines from early prototype cells through to mass production SOP of Optimus Gears program.

The successful candidate will own and lead the deployment for ANY ONE of the following technical tracks: Track 1: Controls Engineering (PLC programming, HMI/SCADA design, safety networks, robotics integration, and industrial network architecture) Track 2: Vision Engineering (Automated 2D/3D vision system integration, smart cameras, lighting configurations, optical inspection, and deep-learning/AI defect detection algorithms) Travel expected 25% - Ability to travel domestically and internationally to suppliers as required.
Software Development :
Design, program, and debug robust PLC and HMI software applications for complex manufacturing equipment and motion control platforms Integrate/optimize multi-axis robotics, high-performance servo systems, & safety control architectures Support MES integration for full product traceability Support machine vision implementation and validation
Commissioning & Validation:
