Role description:
The Gateway Tunnel Project is now hiring a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for Surface Alignment Contract to join our team. The successful candidate will work on design and construction of complex structures including foundations, retaining structures, underpinning, support of excavation systems, embankments and culverts in soft ground conditions for this contract.Role accountabilities:
- Plan and coordinate geotechnical subsurface investigations
- Prepare and review Geotechnical Data Reports, Geotechnical Baseline Reports, and foundation design reports
- Perform and review geotechnical design for underground structures and foundations in soils and rock
- Ground characterization based on the subsurface geotechnical data
- Perform deep foundation design for drilled shafts, driven piles and micropiles
- Perform slope stability and seepage analyses
- Perform liquefaction and seismic site class evaluations
- Perform support of excavation design in soil and rock formations
- Perform and review geotechnical modeling of deep foundations, excavation support systems, ground improvement
- Prepare design calculations and engineering reports
- Plan and coordinate geotechnical instrumentation and construction monitoring
- Perform construction impact assessment investigations
- Prepare and review specifications
- QA/QC of design calculations and engineering reports prepared by others
- Perform construction support and field oversight during construction of underground elements such as deep foundations
- Attend meetings, work with contractors, perform regular site visits and provide engineering services during construction
Qualifications & Experience:
- 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's degree in geotechnical engineering
- 12-15 years of related work experience preferably in northern New Jersey/NYC area
- Professional Engineer registration in State of New Jersey
- Efficient in modeling foundations, support of excavation systems, embankments and ground improvement with commonly used geotechnical and geo-structural softwares such as LPILE, GROUP, FB-MultiPier, Slope-W, Seep-W, DeepEx, Plaxis, etc.
- Familiarity with commonly used geotechnical manuals and publications
- Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT and Amtrak Standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Local resident of NYC metro area
- Work from the NJ PMO or the NJ field PMO Offices for the majority of the time.
