(LGCI) is looking for an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing consulting team serving clients throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Civil or Geotechnical Engineering graduate—or an engineer early in their career—who wants to develop practical engineering skills while working on real projects alongside experienced professionals. What You'll Do As an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer, you'll work with our engineering team on a variety of subsurface exploration, foundation, earthwork, and construction-related projects. In the Office Your responsibilities may include: Performing laboratory soil testing and assisting with interpretation of test results. Supporting geotechnical analyses and engineering calculations. Assisting senior engineers with geotechnical reports, recommendations, and specifications. Preparing and reviewing figures, tables, boring logs, and other technical documentation. Organizing and evaluating field and laboratory data. Developing an understanding of subsurface conditions and their impact on foundation and site development decisions. Working with engineers and field staff to develop practical solutions to project challenges. In the Field Field responsibilities may include: Observing subsurface explorations (soil borings and test pits). Observing and documenting geotechnical aspects of construction. Evaluating subgrade conditions for footings and slabs. Observing ground improvement activities. Observing groundwater control and excavation support. Observing deep foundation installations. Communicating field observations and findings with project engineers, contractors, and other project personnel. The combination of office and field work is an important part of the position. You'll have the opportunity to see how the engineering work you perform in the office translates into real-world construction. What We're Looking For Required Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Master's degree in civil engineering welcome (higher compensation). LGCI will not consider candidates who have not taken the soil mechanics, the foundation, and/or engineering geology class. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel to active construction sites throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Eligibility to work in the United States. LGCI participates in E-Verify. Preferred Internship, co-op, academic, or professional experience related to geotechnical engineering. Exposure to subsurface investigations, earthwork, foundations, or construction. Experience with relevant technical or geotechnical software. Familiarity with gINT or similar subsurface data-management software. EIT/FE certification or progress toward obtaining it. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Previous professional geotechnical experience is helpful, but it is not required.
