Position Overview:

Chicago Magnesium is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and fast-paced individual to join the team as a Radiographic Tech - Industrial . This role supports production by helping move product efficiently through inspection processes while maintaining strong quality standards and accurate documentation. Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. Previous radiographic testing, X-ray, inspection, aerospace, or manufacturing experience is helpful but not required. Chicago Magnesium is open to candidates at any experience level who are dependable, willing to learn, and committed to doing careful, accurate work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process, inspect, and route castings efficiently to support daily production flow, including accurate scanning and reporting of processed quantities.
• Learn and apply approved X-ray techniques to detect cracks, porosity, inclusions, lack of fusion, and other discontinuities.
• Partner closely with Engineering to ensure castings are radiographed in accordance with approved techniques, customer requirements, and applicable work instructions; communicate discrepancies or technique-related concerns promptly.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and on time, including routing information, logs, checklists, route tickets, and logbook entries.
• Organize, label, and file X-ray results for interpretation in the reading room.
• Interpret radiographic film and/or computed radiography (CR) images approving conforming parts or reject nonconforming parts.
• Perform and verify calibrations; assist with rework to remove flash, sand, metal, defects, or debris from castings.
• Serialize parts per company procedure and build self-inspection into daily work to catch issues before they move downstream.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area, wear required safety equipment, and follow all safety protocols.
• Work with urgency while protecting quality, reducing scrap risk, and supporting on-time production flow.
• Perform operator-level preventive maintenance, routine equipment checks, and basic troubleshooting to maintain reliable X-ray and inspection equipment operation; promptly report equipment issues requiring additional support.
• Complete required formal and on-the-job training to develop radiographic testing and non-destructive testing (NDT) qualifications and certifications.
• Read, understand, and accurately follow technical procedures, work instructions, specifications, and training materials; clearly document results and communicate information in writing.
• Safely move carts containing castings between departments to support production flow, using proper material-handling practices and equipment; loaded carts may occasionally contain up to 150 pounds of material.

Physical Requirements:

The current posting lists a maximum lift weight of 50 pounds, maximum push/pull weight of 150 pounds, approximately 10 percent sitting, and 90 percent standing. It also states the role is not exposed to severe weather conditions.
