The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in aerospace fluorescent penetrant inspection and be qualified to perform and interpret inspections in accordance with
ASTM E 1417
, customer specifications, and company procedures. This position is responsible for performing Type I Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection, Method A (Water-Washable) , evaluating indications, determining product acceptability, and maintaining inspection documentation while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform Type I Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), Method A (Water-Washable) on aerospace components. Interpret and evaluate penetrant indications to determine product acceptability.
Perform inspections on:
Weldments Forgings Castings Wrought products Evaluate indications in accordance with applicable acceptance criteria, including
BAC 5423 , MIL-STD-1907
, engineering drawings, customer specifications, and company procedures. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, manufacturing specifications, and inspection procedures. Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate inspection documentation. Verify penetrant process controls and equipment are operating within required parameters. Identify, document, and process nonconforming material in accordance with company procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Participate in internal audits, process improvements, and training activities as required. Minimum Qualifications Current or previous NAS 410 Level II Penetrant certification (preferred). Minimum of 2 years of aerospace penetrant inspection experience preferred. Demonstrated experience performing Type I Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection, Method A (Water-Washable) . Must be proficient in interpreting indications on: Weldments Forgings Castings Wrought products Thorough understanding of
ASTM E1417 , BAC 5423 , MIL-STD-1907
, and aerospace customer specifications. Ability to evaluate linear, rounded, crack-like, and other relevant indications in accordance with applicable acceptance criteria. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and work instructions. Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills. High school diploma or GED required. Required Documentation Applicants must provide documented evidence of the following: A minimum of 32 hours of formal Level II Penetrant Training in accordance with NAS 410 . Documented On-the-Job Training (OJT) and experience records demonstrating qualification for Level II Penetrant Inspection in accordance with NAS 410 . Previous NAS 410 certification records (if applicable). Previous employer training records, experience logs, and certification documentation may be used to verify qualifications. Candidates who cannot provide documentation supporting their formal training and OJT experience will not be considered for Level II certification. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a Nadcap-accredited aerospace NDT facility. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to distinguish colors and possess visual acuity sufficient to perform fluorescent penetrant inspections in accordance with NAS 410 vision requirements. Ability to work in a aerospace environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon: Verification of previous training and OJT documentation. Successful completion of required vision examinations. Qualification and certification in accordance with the company's NAS 410 Written Practice . Successful completion of pre-employment screening.
