JOB SUMMARY
Weld Operator will use manual and semi automated TIG welding systems & automated laser welding systems to assemble precision pressure relief products as directed by Company and customer procedures, drawings, and specifications. The Weld Operator shall also conduct assembled product validation that includes He/Mass Spectrometer leak testing, bubble leak testing, pressure testing, weld sectioning, and set pressure destructive testing. In addition, the Weld Operator will participate in improvement projects focused on products and processes as directed by Quality and Engineering Departments. The Weld Operator is expected to work and communicate well with other team members at the Minneapolis facility including assistance with other product assembly and testing processes as assigned by Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Weld Operator will skillfully run Company welding equipment, taking responsibility for set up of components, and removal of assembled products according to Company procedures to produce product results that meet Company and customer requirements that are both functional and cosmetic.
  • Weld Operator shall set up production runs diligently to limit consumption of test articles and seek assistance promptly when expected weld assembly results are not achieved.
  • Weld Operator will ensure use of correct tooling and fixtures for each production run and identify maintenance and improvement opportunities as they arise.
  • Weld Operator will follow Company procedures and drawings at all times, seeking clarification when required.
  • Weld Operator will participate in time studies to quantify processing times.
  • Weld Operator will at all times maintain traceability of materials and components used, keeping the highest level of housekeeping in the work area to avoid cross contamination of product.
  • Weld Operator will complete required order documentation prescribed for the task at hand.
  • Weld Operator will read schematics, assembly drawings, data sheets, and process sheets in support of product and process activities.
  • Weld Operator will conduct nondestructive testing on product that includes Helium / Mass Spectrometer leak testing, bubble leak testing, and pressure testing.
  • Weld Operator will conduct destructive testing on product that includes weld sectioning, and set pressure burst testing.
Weld Operator is responsible for reporting, at the earliest stage, any equipment or tooling degradation that could potentially impact product quality. Weld Operator is responsible for maintaining & storing all weld fixtures & test fixtures for welded assemblies in their designated locations.
  • Weld Operator will conduct laser marking of products according to order requirements.
  • Weld Operator will conduct degreasing of products according to order requirements.
  • Weld Operator will comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements, and support all team members in maintaining compliance.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
