Job Summary The NDT Technician 1 will provide technical expertise to a variety of nondestructive testing industries. These industries include structural steel, manufacturing, machining, power generation, and petro-chemical. The services provided by the NDT Department are performed to the standards of industry including AWS, ASME, ASTM, API, AISC, and UBC as well as state laws governing professional services. All services will be performed in accordance with AST's QA/QC procedures. The NDT Technician will have an important role in developing the expertise and efficiency of the NDT department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations or workable solutions may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Perform MT, PT, UT, RT, and VT examinations. Interpret results and prepare reports documenting results. Maintain certification in MT, PT, UT, RT, and VT inspection techniques. Maintain current procedures and equipment calibrations for the NDT department. Maintain client contact for ongoing projects and interface with the NDT manager to prepare proposals, schedule laboratory and field testing activities. Assist coordination of full-time and intermittent field projects by AET personnel, including reporting and invoicing. Assist in the promotion and marketing of AET and the NDT department. Training to obtain and maintain certifications. Stay abreast with current NDT technologies utilized by AET. Conduct field, laboratory and office activities in a manner consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, along with AET's QA and Health and Safety Policies, to promote the safety and protection of employees, clients and the public. Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people, work effectively within project teams, resolve issues and problems in a constructive manner, and work independently in the field. Supervisory Responsibility None Qualifications and Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Maintain valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Some positions may require use of personal vehicle for company business. Maintain compliance with DOT driver regulations if required for position. Maintain appropriate physicals if required for position. Ability to meet the requirements for Assistant Radiographer and be working toward
ASNT-TC-1A
for UT, MT, PT, and RT methods. Preferred Skills Associate Degree in Non-Destructive Testing Technology or Welding Certification. Pay Transparency Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $25.00 - $30.00 per hour based on skill set and experience. Work Environment This role is a blend of field and occasional office environments. You will spend significant time outdoors at various project sites, facing diverse weather conditions and physically demanding tasks. Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic environment are essential. Physical Demands Occasionally move 50-70 pounds. Stand up to 80% of the day (often on uneven surfaces). Move up to 80% of the day, with frequent climbing, bending and stooping. Occasionally work in confined spaces. Occasionally work at elevations up to 200 feet, using proper safety equipment as necessary.
