A Non-Destructive Testing Specialist uses ultrasonic, electromagnetic, thermal or liquid penetration tests to check structures or materials for cracks, defects or signs of corrosion. May work on large structures such as bridges, dams or pipelines, or check vehicles such as aircraft. Interprets and reports on test results that include images and measurements; maintains and calibrates equipment.

The Role The Non-Destructive Testing Lab (NDT) functions as a support department to the shipyard providing all NDT required by specifications, drawings, Standard Procedures, and Regulatory Agencies. NDT services provided are Radiography (R/T), Ultrasonic Testing (U/T), Magnetic Particle Testing (M/T), Dye Penetrates Testing (P/T), Chemical Spot Testing, Metal Monitor Testing, Hardness Testing, Cathodic Protection Surveys, Metallurgical Sample preparation and analysis, Eddy Current Testing, review and final approval authority for all subcontractor furnished radiographs and NDT proceduresMust Have- Must be proficient as a Level ll in at least 2 major methods ( MT, PT,RT, or UT )
- Candidate will be required to attain ASNT IRRSP or equivalent radiation safety 5-year certificate. Perform NDT in accordance with applicable procedures.
