Job Description

PeopleReady Skilled Trades - Marine Division is hiring an experienced Shipyard Competent Person to work at NASSCO in the Bremerton yard. Interested candidates must have a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a shipyard environment and meet the criteria below. All candidates must have required certifications, be able to pass a drug screen and background check to obtain DBIDs. Pay Up to $29/hour
Certifications:
Current OSHA Maritime 10 Hour training, 24 Hour and annual 8 hour update for Shipyard Competent Person training.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must have the ability to plan, organize and prioritize well and handle problems and concerns without assistance.

Proficient with the requirements of the Competent Person/Tank Testing process and the equipment used.

Proficient with the requirements of the applicable OSHA and NAVSEA Standard Items.

Must maintain qualified competent person status.

Must be able to form CP Checks on confined/enclosed spaces; conduct atmospheric testing and space inspections to determine if the area is safe for workers and/or hot work.

Must be able to complete and monitor CP Logs; maintain records of inspection and testing.

Must understand all hot work rules and regulations and cold work requirements.

Must be able to read and comprehend the Marine Chemist Certification.

Knowledge of safety regulations and hazards; with ability to execute them.

Knowledge of ship navigation and nomenclature.

Ability to perform work with limited or no supervision.

Must be able to climb ladder wells, enter tanks/voids and other confined spaces.

Must be tank/void watch qualified.

Must be able to traverse multiple classes of U.S. Navy warships to include ladder wells, tight compartments, tanks, voids, bilges and heights exceeding 40'.Must have availability to work all shifts as well as weekends and extended shifts as required based on business needMust be able to effectively communicate with project managers and production personnel.
