Position Overview:

Guardian Manufacturing is seeking a motivated, entry-level Controls Engineer I who is eager to begin a career in industrial automation. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer with a strong technical foundation, a hands-on mindset, and a desire to learn. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and technicians, you will support the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of control systems across multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the design, development, and implementation of control system hardware and software for a variety of industrial processes. Support the selection and sizing of components such as pumps, motors, valves, sensors, power supplies, and related electrical system components. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, project managers, production personnel, and field teams to support high-quality project delivery. Assist with control panel checkout, system testing, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning activities. Create and maintain electrical drawings, programs, test records, and other control system documentation. Participate in customer and project meetings and provide professional technical support as experience develops. Identify technical and operational issues, seek guidance when needed, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline; equivalent technical education and relevant experience may be considered. Entry-level to 2 years of relevant experience. Coursework, internships, co-op experience, or hands-on projects involving PLC programming (ladder logic, function block, or structured text) are preferred. Exposure to C++, Python, or Visual Basic is a plus. Basic familiarity with

HMI/SCADA

programming and industrial control system components is preferred. Foundational knowledge of electrical and control system components, such as power supplies, transformers, VFDs/soft starters, contactors, relays, motors, sensors, and industrial communications. Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, communication skills, and willingness to learn in both office and field environments.
