Position Summary The Underground Utilities Field Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the successful execution of underground utility construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field crews, this position is responsible for project coordination, documentation, quality control, scheduling, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications. Key Responsibilities Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of underground utility projects, including water, sewer, storm drainage, and related infrastructure. Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure field activities align with project requirements. Perform quantity tracking, production reporting, and daily field documentation. Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, inspectors, utility companies, and clients. Assist with project scheduling and monitor progress to help maintain timelines. Conduct field measurements and verify layout and elevations. Support quality control efforts by ensuring work meets company standards and project specifications. Identify and help resolve field issues before they impact schedule or budget. Maintain accurate records including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, as-builts, and material tracking. Promote and enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Attend project meetings and communicate project updates to the management team. Qualifications Strong understanding of underground utility installation methods, grading, and earthwork. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and blueprints. Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with HCSS, Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or GPS equipment is a plus. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between project sites. Preferred Skills Knowledge of NJDOT and municipal utility standards. Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment. Strong attention to detail with excellent time management skills. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow within the organization. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Frequent walking on uneven terrain and active construction sites. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and bend throughout the workday.
