Job Description
Eaton's Electrical division is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team. This hybrid position that is based out of our Moon Township, PA Eaton location and offers benefits from day one. Relocation assistance will be provided within the US/PR. The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you'll do: Eaton's Advanced Technology team is hiring a Lead Systems Engineer for its Protection, Control, and Solutions business. We are seeking an innovative, problem-solver to lead the technical integration of our next-generation solid-state circuit breaker product line, from architecture development through production. This is a rare opportunity to shape a new category of power protection technology from the ground up - working shoulder-to-shoulder with a cross-functional engineering team to turn cutting-edge semiconductor and protection technology into a product line that redefines how electrical systems are protected. This role will be located in Moon Township, PA. A hybrid work model (3 onsite/2 remote) is available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Own systems engineering architecture across a portfolio of solid-state circuit breaker (SSCB) products, leading development from concept through production release. Translate top-level product requirements, including electrical, thermal, mechanical, safety, and regulatory requirements, into subsystem and component-level specifications for multiple product variants. Serve as the technical integration lead across Mechanical Engineering, Embedded Electronics, Power Electronics, Firmware/Controls, and Industrialization Engineering teams. Develop and maintain system architectures, interface definitions, and interface control documents (ICDs) for complex electro-mechanical products. Lead requirements management and traceability, ensuring alignment from customer and market needs through verification and validation activities. Drive architectural standardization, modularity, and platform reuse opportunities across the SSCB product portfolio. Define and manage verification and validation (V&V) strategies, test plans, and execution in partnership with V&V Engineering. Facilitate technical design reviews, risk assessments, FMEAs, root cause investigations, and corrective action initiatives across cross-functional teams. Partner with Program Management to align technical scope, schedule, resources, and risk across multiple concurrent development programs. Collaborate with Marketing and Product Management to ensure product specifications align with customer requirements, market needs, and business objectives. Support manufacturing readiness reviews, product industrialization efforts, and successful transition-to-production activities.Qualifications:
Basic (Required)Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of systems engineering experience in electrical/electronic hardware product development
- Demonstrated experience taking complex electromechanical or power electronics products from concept through production
- Experience with design review processes and risk analysis methods (FMEA, fault tree, etc.)

- Experience with solid-state circuit protection, power switching, or protection relays
- Experience managing systems engineering across multiple concurrent product lines or a product platform
- Experience in a startup or fast-paced R D environment with hands-on, hardware-rich development
- Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tool experience (e.g., Cameo, DOORS, Jama)
- Experience applying Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies (DOE, DFMEA, DVP&R) to hardware product development
Skills:
- Working knowledge of power systems (power distribution, protection, or switching)
- Systems thinking and ability to translate customer needs into engineering requirements across a product family
- Strong cross-functional communication and technical leadership without direct authority
- Requirements management and traceability tools
- Risk assessment and mitigation planning
- Comfortable operating at both architecture level and detailed technical depth when needed
- Verification and validation planning and execution
- Problem-solving under ambiguity in a novel product development environment
