Lead Protection & Control Engineer responsible for power system protection design, relay programming, engineering studies, testing, and commissioning for transmission, distribution, and industrial applications. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with specialization in power systems. 7+ years of experience in electric power system design, study, and analysis. Experience with protection and control engineering for generation, transmission, distribution, or industrial power systems. Knowledge of steady-state and transient power system analysis. Knowledge of fault studies and protection theory. Knowledge of symmetrical components. Experience with system commissioning and protection testing. Experience using Doble, Omicron, or similar test equipment. Experience creating protective relay settings, control logic, and communication settings. Experience estimating engineering effort for proposals and project execution. Preferred Skills Experience with GE protective relays and third-party relay platforms. Experience with substation automation systems. Experience with RTDS simulators or equivalent power system simulation tools. Experience with microgrid design, power flow optimization, and dispatching algorithms. Experience with factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing. Experience developing engineering automation tools. Experience with protection and control communication settings and protocols. Job Responsibilities Design and deliver complex protection solutions for generation, transmission, distribution, and industrial power systems. Develop protection and control schemes for utility and industrial applications. Create relay setting files, protection elements, control logic, and communication settings. Perform short-circuit, load-flow, ground-grid, lightning protection, insulation coordination, arc-flash, and protective device coordination studies. Support design and development of microgrid solutions. Model and perform power system simulations using RTDS or equivalent platforms. Test protection and control solutions in laboratory and field environments. Develop factory acceptance test plans and perform validation testing. Develop site acceptance test plans and provide field commissioning support. Support substation automation project execution. Develop or support software tools that automate protection engineering processes. Participate in technical project meetings covering design, testing, commissioning, and protection requirements. Prepare engineering effort estimates for proposals and active projects.
