Generally, complete the following duties and responsibilities independently with minimal support from engineering management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Generally assigned to complex components, sub-assemblies, and systems. Assignments may include programs with new customers, the introduction of new operating procedures, and the product delivery process. Coordinate the complete development of designated products, including, but not limited to, design, build, and test activities, in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process. Serve as a key customer interface, both internal and external, who can successfully negotiate and influence design direction for optimum feasibility and cost. Help define and incorporate customer requirements and product specifications into the design of designated products, ensuring compliance with operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality, manufacturing feasibility parameters, and government regulations. Analyze products and formulate engineering conclusions through the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools. Apply Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design of Experiments (DOE), Pugh Analysis, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), and Design for Manufacturing/Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA) in the development of the product. Write/compile engineering content for the following deliverables: engineering specifications and documentation, including DVP&Rs, 8Ds, GD&T, BOMs, prototype control plans, key product characteristics, engineering changes, and work orders. Consult and collaborate with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to product development requirements. Conduct effective communications within the project team and with customer, supplier, manufacturing, and quality communities, with guidance from engineering management and senior engineering personnel. Maintain all appropriate documentation. Provide engineering direction and support to design personnel. Review and approve engineering designs. Review, approve, complete, and submit required change notices to ensure design outputs meet design inputs. Independently prioritize the completion of tasks and resolution of issues to ensure compliance with program deliverables. Contribute to the development of project timing and set targets to manage the release of product deliverables per the Master Timing Plan. Maintain good housekeeping of the area. Ensure adherence to company, departmental, and health and safety systems and policies to meet legislative requirements. Support Internal/External Audit efforts regarding
ISO 9001
2015 and
IATF 16949
certification for the remote site location (Group Office). Support the requirements as detailed in Standard Operating Procedure 8000 (Quality Management System). Ensure employees work in a manner consistent with the organization's established objectives and targets, utilizing protective equipment, devices, measures, and procedures as promulgated by state and federal regulations. Establish clear goals for workplace health and safety. Ensure safety talks, safety meetings, and required training occur as defined.
