This role will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer teams to help develop practical, cost-effective designs that meet customer and company requirements. The ideal candidate is a motivated engineer with strong problem-solving skills and an interest in product design, manufacturing, and composite materials.
Key Functions/Responsibilities:
Support the development and modification of product designs using SolidWorks and/or Creo. Assist with new product development projects, including design, prototyping, testing, and production launch. Create and maintain project schedules, tracking key tasks, deadlines, and deliverables. Work with engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and other departments to support project goals. Assist with design reviews and internal project meetings to communicate project status, challenges, and next steps. Support engineering analysis, including structural FEA and Mold Flow analysis as needed. Review customer designs and requirements and assist with developing engineering solutions. Assist with evaluating engineering design changes and identifying potential impacts to cost, timing, quality, and manufacturing. Help identify project risks, technical issues, and opportunities for improvement. Support the development of product designs that are optimized for composite materials and manufacturing processes. Assist with prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and resolving product or manufacturing issues. Prepare engineering documentation, reports, drawings, and other project materials. Work with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to develop knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes. Participate in customer meetings and occasional customer site visits to better understand application and product requirements. Assist in translating customer requirements into practical product designs.
Education and Skills/Experience Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering. Internship, co-op, academic project, or 0-2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Basic knowledge of SolidWorks or Creo. Basic understanding of engineering design and manufacturing principles. Knowledge of Mold Flow analysis is a plus. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus. Exposure to thermoset composite materials is a plus. Ability to understand and balance customer, manufacturing, quality, and business requirements. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications. Basic understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with engineers, manufacturing employees, managers, and other departments. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Microsoft Project is a plus. Willingness to travel up to 25%.
