Job Description

Position:

RF & Fiber Optics Design Engineer, 4+ years design experience

Education:

BS or equivalent in Electrical engineering with focus on RF and Microwave Technologies. As part of the research & design teams at OZC, our RF teams support all phases of electronic product and system development, from early-stage architecture, Circuit design reviews through production. Hands on position as the candidate are often also involved in on bench direct testing and troubleshooting and at times field implementation. This requires in-depth RF knowledge and experience designing wideband RFoF modules, including Transmitters and receivers. Executing this on a day-to-day basis means each engineer will be ready to enact the following duties: Design, develop, build, troubleshoot and test circuits and systems capable of detecting extremely wide range of signal levels from low amplitude to higher levels. These systems also convert baseband signals to a higher frequency carrier. Analyze, design, test, and build any electronic equipment that operates from high-frequency (HF) through millimeter waves, including existing wireless networks, making certain of its continuous functionality and precision in a range of environments that extend well beyond the laboratory. Actively participate in technical teams involved with the design, verification, testing, and production of RF modules at BAE Systems. Grow their knowledge of electronic warfare while working with subject-matter experts. Successfully attaining our RF Engineer jobs also requires a person to have good communication skills and be adept at anticipating client issues and problems before they occur so that solutions can be developed and preventive measures can be put in place. This means having a mentality that goes beyond mere problem-solving to also see "the big picture" from the point of view of clients and other decision-makers, well beyond the immediate assignment. This valued capability can mean not only the difference between a one-time project and a long-term relationship with the client, but in the field can also mean mission success instead of less attractive alternatives. Work with a team that values all employees and their contributions. Competitive salary and bonuses Benefits include health insurance, vacation, holidays, stock options, profit sharing, and more.

Requirements, Qualifications and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and optimize RF and microwave circuits for analog RF over Fiber transmitters, receivers, and related products.
  • Work with RF frequencies ranging from HF to microwave and millimeter-wave bands, depending on product requirements.
  • Design and evaluate RF amplifiers, gain stages, attenuators, filters, RF switches, impedance matching networks, and signal conditioning circuits.
  • Analyze and improve RF performance, including gain, noise figure, linearity, IP2, IP3, P1dB compression, dynamic range, EVM, return loss, and isolation.
  • Select and evaluate RF components, MMICs, amplifiers, lasers, photodetectors, and other critical components.
  • Perform RF link budget calculations and system-level performance analysis.
  • RF and optical circuit development, RFoF link design and performance optimization
  • RF testing, characterization, and troubleshooting
  • Product development from concept through production including Hardware and firmware integration Ability to use and interpret analytical tool data Strong technical/scientific skills including Root Cause Analysis, 6 Sigma, and application of basic statistics.

Excellent organizational and communication skills, clever & innovative, ability to work under pressure, good problem solving skills, self-motivated, results oriented, sense or urgency, good follow through, ownership of assigned projects, and good interpersonal skills. Must be able to work in an environment alongside all engineering discipline
