Position Overview:
C Squared Systems is seeking an experienced Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically proficient, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication with customers and internal team members. The successful candidate will support and lead a variety of RF engineering projects involving commercial wireless and public safety systems. Typical projects include commercial cellular (5G
NR / 4G LTE
), public safety/LMR radio systems, RF compliance evaluations, propagation modeling, and wireless infrastructure development. This position consists of approximately 70% office work and 30% field work. Occasional travel is required, including field assignments that may last up to one week or longer. The successful candidate will have opportunities to expand into project leadership, customer engagement, and advanced RF engineering disciplines while working alongside experienced engineers on a diverse range of projects.
Responsibilities:
Design, analyze, optimize, and troubleshoot wireless networks and RF systems. Perform RF coverage and capacity analysis using propagation modeling software and field measurements. Conduct RF testing on commercial 5G NR, LTE, and public safety/LMR systems using scanners, spectrum analyzers, test transmitters, and other RF test equipment. Provide RF engineering support for zoning and permitting activities, including serving as a technical expert before local Planning and Zoning Boards when required. Perform RF exposure evaluations, measurements, and FCC compliance studies. Conduct interference and passive intermodulation (PIM) analysis and recommend mitigation strategies. Manage multiple projects and customer priorities simultaneously while meeting project deadlines. Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, and customer deliverables. Collaborate with customers and internal engineering teams to develop practical RF solutions and communicate project status.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with commercial wireless networks or RF engineering' Strong understanding of RF engineering fundamentals, including wireless communications, signal propagation, power, frequency, modulation, noise, and antenna systems. Experience using RF propagation modeling software such as Atoll, Planet, Pathloss, or similar tools. Experience with GIS software such as MapInfo, QGIS, ArcGIS, or equivalent. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with FCC RF exposure compliance and regulatory requirements. Experience with public safety/LMR radio systems. Experience conducting field testing and post-processing drive test data. Familiarity with wireless infrastructure permitting and zoning processes. Experience with spectrum analyzers, RF scanners, and other RF test equipment.
