We are actively seeking a Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our Lloydminster Thermal Reservoir team in our Calgary office. Reporting to the Team Lead, Reservoir - Lloydminster Thermal, the successful candidate will work as part of a technical, multidisciplinary team and will play a key role in the subsurface reservoir engineering, well planning and well forecasting, and operating strategies for the company's Saskatchewan thermal heavy oil assets. The candidate will be accountable for all aspects of reservoir engineering to ensure the assets are exploited and developed in the most optimal manner and will focus on optimizing the company's resources through the evaluation of future SAGD well pair plans.Essential Functions:
Support development of Strathcona's in-situ thermal heavy oil assets Lead activities evaluating field development strategies and reservoir management plans, and propose strategies and opportunities to sustain and improve reservoir performance Responsible for developing and implementing reservoir operating strategies; propose and evaluate steam and NCGI allocation strategies for production optimization, pressure management, monitor KPIs, and interface with subsurface team to maximize asset value Identify and support well optimization strategies and designs (steam splitters, tubing cuts, FCDs, artificial lift, etc.) Support well start-up, ramp down, and late-life well strategies Utilize analogues, analytical, and simulation techniques to generate medium and long-term production forecasts for wells, pads, and assets Ensure best practices and accurate representation of subsurface data and inputs associated with thermal reservoir modelling are followed including suitable incorporation of geological models Support any regulatory applications or filings as needed Experience with PVT and special core analysis, results interpretation, and suitable application Communicate effectively with key stakeholders and establish relationships with Production, Operations, Geosciences and Development teams Qualifications & Skills Registered (or eligible) Professional Engineer with APEGA. 10+ years of reservoir engineering experience in thermal projects, ideally SAGD. Proven expertise in SAGD surveillance, field development planning, and forecasting. Strong data analytics and visualization skills (Tableau an asset). Experience with thermal reservoir simulation (CMG Suite). Innovative problem-solver with a track record of applying creative reservoir engineering solutions. Self-directed, goal-oriented, and able to deliver results in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Strong analytical, project management, and integration capabilities. Effective communicator with excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Legally authorized to work full-time in Canada. Coding skills in VBA, Python, or R considered an asset. Great things aren't done by one person, they're done by a team.
