Organization Gas Services Business Unit Central Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Professional / Experienced A Snapshot of Your Day As a Senior Thermal Fluid Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of world-class gas turbines. Using cutting-edge thermal-fluid, aerothermal, and CFD analysis techniques, you will develop innovative solutions for turbine cooling, secondary air systems, and clearance design. Working alongside a global team of engineering experts, you will support both new product development and fleet improvement initiatives that directly impact the future of energy generation. How You'll Make an Impact Thermal-Fluid Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (60%) Develop and maintain advanced thermal-fluid and flow-network models for gas turbine cooling and secondary air systems (SAS). Perform CFD, heat transfer, and aerothermal analyses using commercial and proprietary simulation tools. Conduct whole engine modeling (WEM) to evaluate thermal growth, transient heating, and component interactions. Simulate turbine thermal expansion and clearance behavior to optimize assembly gaps and operational performance. Analyze simulation results, correlate findings with test and operational data, and provide design recommendations. Support validation activities through comparison of analytical predictions with engine and fleet data. Design, Development & Fleet Improvement (40%) Lead thermal-fluid design activities supporting gas turbine product development and service engineering programs. Develop and refine secondary air system architectures, cooling strategies, and clearance design concepts. Evaluate prototype, test, and field performance data to identify opportunities for reliability, durability, and efficiency improvements. Perform engineering assessments, root cause investigations, and risk analyses including FMEA. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including component engineering, manufacturing, project management, systems engineering, and service engineering. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on thermal performance, operability, and product lifecycle optimization. What You Bring Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
Direct experience with:
Gas Turbine Secondary Air Systems (SAS) Whole Engine Modeling (WEM) Clearance Design and Thermal Growth Analysis Engine Integration Hot Gas Path Cooling Systems Experience with engineering software such as: ANSYS Fluent
ANSYS CFX STAR-CCM+ MATLAB
Python Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA/FEM) and multidisciplinary design methods. OEM experience supporting gas turbine, aerospace propulsion, or advanced turbomachinery products. Export Control Requirement (ECC): Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
