Xcel Energy is seeking a candidate to support our Distribution Gas Design Organization within our East Twin Cities service territory. This paid internship offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the planning, design, and execution of natural gas distribution projects. Interns will assist with project design activities, field investigations, construction coordination, and stakeholder communication while working closely with designers, engineers, operations personnel, and external customers. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to utility operations, interns will develop technical and professional skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and gain a deeper understanding of how natural gas infrastructure is designed, maintained, and improved to safely serve our customers and communities. Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Review city/county/state construction plans for conflicts Design gas and service replacements Set up billing for customer driven jobs Review as-builts and mapping for inaccuracies Submit requests to fix mapping inaccuracies This position is for a May 31, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel Energy's business needs.
