Senior Desiign Automation Engineer Accelera - 3.5 Harper Woods, MI Job Details Full-time 6 days ago Qualifications Industrial automation 3D modeling software GD&T Process simulation software 3D modeling for product design Pneumatic systems 3D modeling Robot simulation Full Job Description Role Overview You will be tasked with the creation, refinement, and validation of automated welding systems and robotic tooling solutions tailored for automotive production environments. Your primary focus involves generating precise 3D models, choosing appropriate automation hardware, and verifying that all technical designs strictly adhere to established safety protocols and client specifications. Core Responsibilities Develop detailed 3D models and manufacturing blueprints for robotic welding cells, end-of-arm tooling, and assembly fixtures by utilizing CAD platforms like SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Help streamline production efficiency by selecting and integrating industrial robots, various welding guns, sensors, and safety hardware into cohesive systems. Partner with project managers, controls engineers, and shop floor personnel to ensure that all mechanical designs are practical, cost-effective, and easy to build. Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by ensuring all mechanical and automation designs align with OSHA, RIA, and customer-specific safety requirements. Provide technical support during assembly, robot path simulations, and final buy-off procedures at customer facilities to ensure project success. Qualifications and Expertise Hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or possess equivalent professional experience in the field. Demonstrate 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in automation design, specifically within the automotive sector or for tier-1 welding suppliers. Show proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Inventor, alongside experience with robotic simulation tools like Robcad or Process Simulate. Apply your deep knowledge of resistance spot welding, MIG welding, pneumatic components, and GD&T to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
