In this role, you will support land surveying projects by operating various surveying equipment, collecting accurate field data, and assisting with the preparation of survey documents. Your enthusiasm for fieldwork, combined with technical skills in land surveying and data collection, will contribute to successful project completion. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment while developing your expertise in civil engineering and geospatial technologies. Duties Operate surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS units, and 3D scanners to gather precise field data for various projects Assist with construction layout surveys, topographic surveys, and land boundary delineations Conduct utility locating to identify underground infrastructure and prevent service disruptions during construction activities Collect and analyze survey data using CAD software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and GIS tools such as ArcGIS Support the setup and calibration of surveying equipment, including leveling tools and laser scanners Prepare sketches, schematics, and basic drawings based on field measurements for project documentation Perform heavy lifting of equipment and materials safely while adhering to safety protocols Qualifications Basic understanding of trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and math principles relevant to land surveying Experience or familiarity with GPS surveying systems such as Trimble GNSS or similar technology Knowledge of CAD software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Carlson, MicroStation or equivalent drafting tools Familiarity with construction staking, ALTA surveys (American Land Title Association), and legal descriptions of land parcels Ability to operate surveying equipment like total stations, levels, hand tools, and LiDAR scanners effectively Strong data collection skills with attention to detail and accuracy in the field Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and documenting survey results Physical ability to perform fieldwork involving standing for long periods, heavy lifting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions Prior experience in land or civil engineering projects is a plus but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate Join us as a Survey Field Assistant and be part of a dedicated team committed to precision and excellence in land surveying!
