Job Description
Soltesz is seeking a dependable and motivated Field Survey Technician to join our survey team in Rockville, Maryland. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in land surveying while supporting a variety of civil engineering and land development projects throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. As a member of the land survey crew, the Field Survey Technician will assist with collecting accurate field data, operating survey equipment, documenting field activities, and completing construction stakeout, boundary survey, and topographic mapping assignments. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist the land survey crew with construction stakeout, boundary surveys, and topographic mapping. Support the operation of total stations, data collectors, levels, and other surveying equipment. Gather field survey data used to prepare project base plans. Assist with locating, marking, and measuring survey points. Place survey stakes, monuments, and irons as directed. Accurately document field measurements, survey activities, and project notes. Maintain and organize survey equipment and supplies in company vehicles. Restock field supplies as needed. Clear brush, vegetation, and other obstructions from survey lines when necessary. Follow established safety procedures while working at project sites. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Zero to two years of field surveying, construction, or related experience. Ability to work outdoors in varied and sometimes extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold. Ability to walk over uneven terrain and frequently bend, squat, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to read, write, and understand work instructions in English. Valid driver's license required. Dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working as part of a field crew. Willingness to work overtime when project schedules require it. Work Schedule The standard work schedule is 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Overtime may occasionally be required based on project needs. Why Join Soltesz?
