(GBA) is posting the following three (3) career opportunities available in their Baltimore, MD / Houston, TX / Tampa, FL offices: Background GBA provides consulting engineering services from concept to completion for port development, land reclamation, restoration and coastal engineering projects. With offices located on the major estuaries of the east, west and gulf coasts, GBA is the largest firm in the United States specializing in dredging engineering and hydrographic surveys. Our recent alliance with ST Hudson Engineering has expanded the Team's capabilities to include additional engineering and surveying services. These positions require a person/s with strong organization skills and attention to detail. Good communication skills are critical to success in these positions. The candidate must be able to work independently or as part of a team, have strong problem-solving skills, and be willing to learn. Position:
ENGINEER
. Work Description The qualified candidate(s) will perform civil and coastal engineering tasks involving major U.S. navigation and coastal restoration projects. Tasks include design, analysis/investigations, conceptual and feasibility studies, development of construction plans and specifications, data processing, report writing, material and cost estimating, and construction oversight in the marine environment to include dredging, port infrastructure, and coastal processes. The position may involve hydrographic surveying, field work, and travel. Training and Qualifications BS/MS (Civil) Engineering, P.E. Desired Experience Strong communication, technical writing skills, and project management experience. Permitting, land development, earthwork, dredging and/or environmental engineering a plus. CADD and TerraModel experience preferred. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Position:
ENGINEER/TECHNICIAN I
Intern and/or Entry Level CADD Technician. Work Description The qualified candidate(s) will assist in the preparation of plans and exhibits involving creating drawings from design sketches, conceptual drawings, field-compiled survey data, and verbal descriptions. Successful candidate(s) will provide support to staff by creating/revising drawings; assisting engineers; and printing, filing, scanning, and delivery/pick-up of documents. There will also be opportunity to provide support of field activities, including surveying and sample collection, and shipment for laboratory analyses. Training and Qualifications Experience with Autocad Version 2000 or more recent required; experience with Bentley MicroStation a plus. Candidate must be very familiar with standard Microsoft Office Suite Software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. A minimum of an Associate Degree, or equivalent CADD training, is required for a full-time position.
Position:
LEAD HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYOR
(min 3 yrs exp) Desired Experience Extensive experience in both single beam and multi-beam hydrographic data collection and processing. Ability to perform all functions for single beam and multi-beam surveys from field to finish associated with dredging projects. Work Description Lead Hydrographic Survey Technician for a detached hydrographic/topographic survey crew with minimal supervision. Hydrographic surveys shall be conducted from vessels up to 40 feet in length. Data collection shall include single beam/multi-beam data collection, side scan sonar data collection, towed arrays including magnetometer and sub-bottom devices. Training and Qualification Extensive experience with utilizing industry standard hydrographic data collection and post processing software, such as:
HYPACK/HYSWEEP, QUINCY, CHESAPEAKE, SONARWIZ. ETC.
Demonstrated experience providing CADD products/deliverables. Extensive overnight travel and a flexible schedule are required . A valid state driver's license is mandatory.
Position:
ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST
Work Description The successful candidate will conduct environmental consulting involving major U.S. navigation and coastal restoration projects. Tasks include permitting, environmental sampling, analysis/investigations, conceptual and feasibility studies, wetland delineations, data processing, report writing, and construction oversight. Must be able to plan and organize field activities. The position may involve hydrographic surveying, field work, and travel. Training and Qualifications BS/MS in a Natural Science (biology, chemistry, environmental science, marine science, or geology).
HAZWOPER
training and wetland delineation certification a plus. Desired Experience Permitting, land development, earthwork, dredging and/or environmental consulting a plus. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong technical writing skills are essential to this position.
