Duties Operate advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, and robotic instruments to collect accurate field data for various survey types including topographic, flood elevation, ALTA (American Land Title Association), and construction layout surveys. Perform construction staking and layout surveys to guide contractors in positioning structures according to design schematics. Utilize CAD software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, Carlson, Topcon Field and GIS platforms such as ArcGIS for drafting, data analysis, and creating detailed survey maps. Collect geospatial data with GPS surveying techniques using Topcon GNSS systems and total stations with Leica RTK network corrections; analyze collected data for consistency and accuracy. Maintain meticulous records of survey data, field notes, sketches, and reports; prepare clear documentation for project teams and clients. Support field operations by handling hand tools, setting up survey markers, performing level checks with leveling instruments, and conducting schematic verifications. Collaborate with civil engineers and project managers to interpret survey requirements; ensure compliance with safety standards during all field activities. Engage in heavy lifting when transporting equipment or materials necessary for field surveys; uphold safety protocols at all times. Experience Proven experience operating surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems (including Trimble), laser scanners (LiDAR), and related field tools. Strong understanding of land surveying principles including topographic surveys, boundary determination, legal descriptions, construction staking, and schematics interpretation. Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), GIS applications (ArcGIS), and Carlson software suite for drafting and data processing. Topcon software suite experience is preferred. Knowledge of utility locating techniques using specialized tools to identify underground utilities safely is preferred. Experience performing construction layout surveys on active sites with attention to detail and precision. Ability to analyze survey data accurately; excellent math skills including algebra and geometry are essential for calculations involving trigonometry. Prior work experience in civil or land surveying environments is preferred; construction experience is a plus. Physical capability for fieldwork involving long periods outdoors; includes walking over uneven terrain and heavy lifting of equipment when necessary.
