Survey Instrument Technician (West Texas, Hobbs, NM, and surrounding) September 24, 2026 Job Description Datapoint is seeking a Survey Instrument Technician that can assist with oil & gas market land and route surveying in the Permian Basin. Past survey experience is preferred, but not required. This is a great entry-level position for those with a good work ethic and interest in the land surveying industry who would appreciate the opportunity to join, learn, and develop with our growing team! Required Qualifications Valid DL with clean driving history Prompt and accountable Willingness to learn and work well in a team setting Familiarity with electronics & precision instrumentation Basic knowledge of the land survey profession Must be able to safely work outside in potentially extreme weather conditions Flexible schedule to handle heavy workloads as needed, with ability to travel daily and occasionally overnight, up to 50% travel throughout Hobbs, NM area, West, TX, to East, TX office and job sites Key Responsibilities Assist Party Chief in execution of a variety of survey & staking scopes Assist in maintenance and proper care of fleet vehicle, survey equipment, and other company property Assistance in crew inventory On the job training daily with utilized software, hardware, equipment, geomatics, and mathematics Potentially physically demanding tasks related to a variety of scopes of field surveying
