What they do

A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Humility Accountability Integrity Quality Teamwork Safety Core Skills for Success Ability to read, interpret, and mark up shop drawings and architectural documents Precise measurement and field documentation skills with strong attention to detail Clear, proactive communicator with Project Managers, Engineers, and General Contractors Proficient in Innergy, PlanGrid, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Solid understanding of millwork construction methods and job site conditions Able to work independently in the field while staying connected to the office team Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple upcoming surveys at once Position Focus Conduct field surveys at job sites, capturing measurements, conditions, and deviations from approved shop drawings accurately and completely Serve as eyes and ears on site for Project Management and Engineering teams, communicating field conditions clearly and promptly Coordinate with GC Superintendents on site to discuss deviations, clarify conditions, verify hold-to measurements, and relay communications to the Project Manager Join the daily Engineering call to ensure field-related information reaches the Engineering Manager and team promptly Prepare for upcoming surveys in the office — reviewing schedules, curating current shop drawings, meeting with Project Managers and Engineers, and optimizing the survey schedule for efficiency Debrief recently completed field conditions with the relevant Project Manager and Engineering Manager to ensure information is captured and acted on Key Result Areas Accuracy and completeness of field measurements and condition documentation Timeliness of field information communicated to Project Managers and Engineering Survey schedule adherence and optimization Quality and organization of photo documentation from job sites Attendance and participation in daily Engineering calls Superintendent coordination effectiveness on site
