Job Description

Marine & Cargo Surveyor Full time and project employment in metropolitan area of New Orleans Mund+ Bruns is an international well-known marine & cargo survey bureau for the maritime industry for more than 25 years. As a family owned medium-sized company, we have around 50 employees worldwide at our premises in Germany, Belgium, China and the US. For our branch office in the US, we are looking for the next possible date: Marine & Cargo Surveyors This position will perform marine and & cargo surveys and audits in the field. The Marine & Cargo Surveyor will produce and submit technically, and grammatically correct reports aligned with company procedures and schedules, and customer requirements. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Inspects cargoes of seagoing vessels to certify compliance with national and international health and safety regulations in cargo handling and stowage
  • Reads vessel documents that set forth cargo loading and securing procedures, capacities, and stability factors to ascertain cargo capabilities according to design and cargo regulations
  • Inspects loaded, secured cargo in holds and lashed to decks to ascertain that pertinent cargo handling regulations have been observed. Issues certificate of compliance when violations are not detected
  • Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed
  • Engages in contact with clients to resolve problems within areas of expertise
  • Maintains survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in the area of responsibility Your profile:
  • Technical college graduate, maritime college or equivalent time in the marine industry
  • minimum of three years sea-going experience in a certified position or in the marine surveying field
  • Heavy lift experience
  • Report and technical writing skills
  • High performance and team player
  • Commitment to company values, policies, and safety program
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Ability to work under deadlines
