This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity for reliable field technicians who understand residential solar and can accurately document the electrical, structural, and site conditions needed for solar design and permitting. We work with solar companies across multiple markets and are looking to build long-term relationships with dependable technicians who take pride in providing complete, accurate, and high-quality surveys. Responsibilities Perform residential solar site surveys at scheduled customer locations. Capture all required photos of the roof, attic, electrical equipment, utility meter, main service panel, subpanels, existing solar equipment, proposed equipment locations, and other applicable site conditions. Obtain accurate measurements and document roof, structural, electrical, and equipment information. Clearly photograph equipment labels, breaker information, panel ratings, inverter information, and other required nameplates. Document potential equipment locations, conduit runs, battery locations, obstructions, clearances, and other project-specific requirements. Complete required digital site survey forms and checklists. Upload photos, measurements, notes, and supporting documentation promptly after completing the survey. Review all photos and information before leaving the property to ensure nothing is missing or unreadable. Communicate with PureSol if additional information, access issues, homeowner concerns, or unusual site conditions are encountered. Return to the site for missing information when required due to incomplete survey documentation. Maintain professional communication and appearance when interacting with homeowners and clients. Contractor Requirements Candidates should have prior experience performing residential solar site surveys, solar installation, electrical work, solar inspections, or a similar field-service role . You should be comfortable identifying and documenting equipment such as main service panels, utility meters, breakers, inverters, AC disconnects, combiners, gateways, batteries, subpanels, and existing photovoltaic systems. Contractors must have a reliable vehicle, smartphone with a good-quality camera, measuring tools, ladder and appropriate safety equipment for the type of surveys accepted. You must also be comfortable using mobile apps to receive assignments, complete forms, upload photos, and communicate job status. Reliable transportation, strong attention to detail, timely communication, and the ability to work independently are essential. Preferred Experience Experience with residential solar site surveys is strongly preferred. Additional experience with solar installations, batteries, electrical systems, final inspections, service work, roofing, drone surveys, or photovoltaic design requirements is a plus. Familiarity with solar equipment from manufacturers such as Tesla, Enphase, SolarEdge, FranklinWH, Generac, SMA, or similar equipment is also helpful. Independent Contractor Opportunity This is a 1099 independent contractor position . Work is offered based on project volume and contractor coverage area. Contractors may accept or decline available assignments based on their availability. Compensation is per completed survey and varies depending on project type, location, travel requirements, and scope of work.
Typical compensation:
$100 per completed residential site survey. Additional compensation may be available for extended travel, specialty surveys, commercial projects, battery-only surveys, or other field services.
