The Opportunity WSDOT's Northwest Region is seeking two Transportation Engineers (Design Project Team Leads) to join our SnoKing Design office. Foundational Engineering Knowledge :
Demonstrated understanding of civil, structural, geotechnical, or transportation engineering principles, typically acquired through formal education or equivalent on-the-job experience. Ability to apply engineering principles, techniques, and procedures to the design of various transportation projects.Project Management Knowledge:
Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor, and update project schedules and plans; manage scope, time, and resources effectively; and deliver projects in compliance with applicable standards and milestones.Technical Interpretation and Analysis:
Skilled in reading, interpreting, analyzing, and producing contract plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with project requirements and engineering standards.Leadership Skills:
Ability to lead and coach subordinate staff, including evaluating performance, identifying training needs, and resolving personnel issues.Communication and Interpersonal Proficiency:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to a variety of stakeholders including engineers, contractors, and the public.Growth Mindset:
Actively demonstrates a commitment to learning and growth.Service-Oriented:
Takes action to meet the needs of others. In addition to the competencies above, the following are also required : A valid driver's license and the ability to operate state-owned vehicles. Ability to travel locally or regionally to perform fieldwork. It is preferred that qualified candidates also demonstrate:Engineering Staff Leadership :
Experience supervising engineering staff. Design- Bid•
Build Project Delivery Expertise:
Experience delivering WSDOT design-bid-build projects from initiation through PS&E.Design Software Proficiency:
Experience with Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads.Multidisciplinary Technical Design Skills:
Technical design experience in areas such as geometric design, hydraulic design, alignments, survey/ROW plans, or related disciplines.Professional Engineering:
Professional Engineer (PE) license. Important Notes This recruitment may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs. This position offers flexible/hybrid remote work options. Local or regional travel is required on a regular and/or as-needed basis to perform site visits or attend meetings and training. The salary listed includes the legislative approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County. In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements . Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28 of the Washington Administrative Code.
