Job Description
Consider before submitting an application: This position is expected to start around January 2027 and continue through the entire Spring term (ending approximately May 2027 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, Full - Time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year. About the Team Tesla ships new software to millions of cars the same way your phone gets an overnight update, except if this one fails, the car in your driveway might not start in the morning. The Update Systems Team ensures our customers receive new features and fixes without turning a parked Tesla into a very expensive brick. As an intern on the Updater Systems team, you will be responsible for the quality of the components within the update system. You will design and maintain automated HIL and SIL test suites, python tools, and infrastructure management tools to ensure we deliver quality and timely updates to all of Tesla's customers. Develop scenarios, test cases, and write test code for update systems using hardware and software in the loop testing environments Maintain autonomous test and reporting infrastructure Maintain internal python tools to support validation efforts and test automation Define, gather, and report on performance and health metrics related to the system updater Work cross-functionally to investigate and validate issues Communicate with developers to proactively identify problems and gaps in test Ability to understand, test, and troubleshoot complicated system interactions Currently pursuing a Degree in Computer Science or a related field with a graduation date between 2027 - 2028 Strong Python programmer Acute attention to detail Experience developing tests with reusable code Ability to develop test guidelines from specifications Strong understanding of object-oriented design and algorithms Ability to drive problems to solutions across different groups in the company Strong communication skills Benefits As a full-time Tesla Intern, you will be eligible for: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans.
