Optional benefits available Position Overview HRU is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support product and manufacturing quality for an established automotive manufacturing operation in Bloomfield, CT. This role is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with strong experience in
PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, AIAG
Core Tools, and
IATF 16949
to make a direct impact on manufacturing quality, process improvement, and problem resolution. The Quality Engineer will investigate product and process issues, support root-cause and corrective-action activities, develop and maintain quality systems and documentation, and work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to continuously improve quality and process performance. Key Responsibilities Support quality engineering activities for manufacturing processes, products, equipment, and systems. Investigate product and process quality issues and lead or support structured root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities. Support PPAP activities and maintain required documentation. Participate in APQP activities for new and existing products and manufacturing processes. Develop, review, and maintain quality standards, procedures, inspection methods, and documentation. Apply the AIAG Core Tools , including:
FMEA SPC MSA PPAP APQP
Establish sampling procedures and methods for collecting, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. Evaluate the precision and accuracy of production, inspection, measurement, and testing equipment. Analyze quality and manufacturing data using statistical tools to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation. Support compliance with IATF 16949 and applicable automotive quality standards. Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, operations, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams to resolve quality concerns. Develop quality-related training materials and provide technical guidance and training as needed. Provide technical direction and support to personnel involved in product inspection, measurement, testing, and data collection. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, process capability, reliability, and manufacturing performance. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. 5-7 years of quality engineering or manufacturing engineering experience required. Strong experience with automotive quality processes and methodologies. Working knowledge of AIAG Core Tools , including PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA. Knowledge of
IATF 16949
automotive quality-management requirements. Experience applying statistical methods to manufacturing and quality data. Proficiency with Minitab . Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation. Strong root-cause analysis, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
