Tactical (OFP) Quality Engineer - John Deere (Moline, IL) This is a high-visibility 6+ month contract opportunity paying up to $40/hr , including 2 weeks of PTO . Operating 100% onsite (5 days a week) on 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) at John Deere Cylinder in Moline, IL , you will provide daily boots-on-the-ground support across nearly every aspect of factory quality—from Scrap and Material Review Board (MRB) execution to automated quality data systems like QDAS and JDAAT.

Location:
100% Onsite (5 days/week) at John Deere Cylinder ( Moline, IL ).
Metatarsal safety boots strictly required on Day 1.

Core Responsibilities Daily Shop-Floor Support:
Serve as the primary Quality contact for multiple manufacturing departments (machining, plating, welding, assembly), assisting line operators directly with quality concerns.
Material Containment & Processes:
Execute Scrap management, Non-Conforming Material handling, Material Review Board (MRB) activities, and Cleanliness Testing procedures.
Root-Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions:
Gather and analyze production data to execute structured root-cause analysis and drive permanent corrective actions with cross-functional teams.
Data Systems & Reporting:
Support quality reporting and maintain automated data collection platforms, including QDAS and JDAAT.
Hands-on Quality Engineering experience supporting production in a machining or heavy manufacturing environment.
Technical Problem Solving:
Demonstrated root-cause analysis and troubleshooting skills to resolve active shop-floor quality issues.
Departmental Expertise:
Experience supporting processes across machining, plating, welding, or assembly lines.
Data & Software Systems:
Experience gathering quality metrics and supporting automated quality data systems (such as QDAS or JDAAT).
Communication & Presence:
Strong verbal communication skills with a willingness to spend majority of time on the shop floor interacting with machine operators and production leadership.
