Job Summary The Head Mechanic is responsible for overseeing mechanical operations, equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance, and technical troubleshooting within our manufacturing facility. This position provides hands-on technical leadership and daily direction to the mechanical maintenance team to ensure production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. The Head Mechanic will play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime, improving line efficiency, supporting production schedules, and maintaining compliance with safety, GMP, and GDP standards. Duties Lead and oversee the daily activities of the mechanical maintenance team, including Lead Mechanics, Machine Tenders, and Maintenance Technicians. Ensure timely production line setups, equipment changeovers, and daily start-ups to support production schedules. Plan, oversee, and execute preventive maintenance programs for production, filling, and packaging equipment. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, pneumatic, and operational equipment issues and implement effective corrective actions. Identify root causes of recurring equipment issues and drive continuous improvements to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability. Manage critical spare parts inventory to help prevent production delays and equipment-related line stoppages. Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to mechanics and machine tenders on equipment operation, setup procedures, safety practices, and documentation. Partner with Production, Quality Assurance, and Engineering teams to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), line efficiency, and product throughput. Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), safety requirements, and company policies. Experience High School Diploma or Technical Trade School degree required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field is a plus. 7-10+ years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience with high-speed filling and packaging lines within the cosmetic, personal care, or pharmaceutical manufacturing industry . 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience managing mechanics, machine tenders, or similar technical personnel. Strong technical knowledge of packaging machinery, including filling machines, cappers, labelers, tube sealers, shrink wrappers, and related equipment. Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot technical manuals, mechanical blueprints, pneumatic systems, and basic electrical schematics. Strong leadership, troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and time-management skills. Ability to prepare professional communications and technical equipment or maintenance reports. English proficiency required; Spanish or Korean language skills are a plus. Ability to perform hands-on equipment maintenance, lift up to 50 lbs., and work overtime or flexible shifts based on production needs

Pay:

$90,000.00 - $97,000.00 per year
