Quality Engineer Location:
Fountain Inn, SC Reports To:
Quality Manager Position Summary The Quality Engineer supports the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. This role is responsible for PPAP activities, validation projects, metrology, audit preparation, customer and supplier complaint investigations, statistical analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position will work closely with Engineering, Production, Tooling, Suppliers, and Customers to drive product quality, process capability, and customer satisfaction. Essential Responsibilities Product Launch & PPAP Prepare and submit PPAP documentation. Support APQP activities, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and customer-specific requirements. Participate in new product launches and customer approval activities. Validation & Process Qualification Execute validation activities including IQ, OQ, and PQ. Conduct process capability studies and validation reporting. Support equipment qualification and revalidation projects. Metrology & Measurement Systems Support dimensional inspection and metrology activities. Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Gauge R&R studies. Develop and improve inspection methods and measurement systems. Ensure calibration and proper utilization of inspection equipment. Audits & Quality Systems Prepare for customer, internal, supplier, and third-party audits. Support compliance with IATF 16949 and
ISO 9001
requirements. Assist with
ISO 13485
compliance activities when applicable. Track audit findings, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification. Customer & Supplier Quality Participate in customer visits, quality reviews, and technical discussions. Support investigation and resolution of customer and supplier complaints. Lead or coordinate containment activities, root cause investigations, and corrective actions. Prepare and coordinate 8D reports and customer responses. Monitor complaint trends and drive preventive actions. Continuous Improvement Analyze quality data and process performance using statistical methods. Support SPC, Cp/Cpk studies, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and Pareto Analysis. Identify and implement quality and process improvement opportunities. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field. Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality environment. Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and Root Cause Analysis. Experience with IATF 16949 and/or
ISO 9001.
Strong analytical and statistical problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Metrology Experience Knowledge of precision measurement and metrology equipment. Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
Experience using:
CMMs Optical Comparators Vision Systems Keyence Measurement Systems Micrometers Calipers Height Gages Surface Finish Measurement Equipment Experience conducting Gauge R&R and MSA studies. Preferred Experience in precision metal stamping, deep drawing, automotive, or medical device manufacturing. Knowledge of
ISO 13485
requirements. CQE, CQA, or Internal Auditor certification. Experience with CMM programming and Minitab. Familiarity with Zeiss, Keyence, Mitutoyo, OGP, or similar metrology platforms. Pay:
$80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
