Some travel may be required We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support equipment startup, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities for a fast-paced construction project in Spartanburg, SC. This position will work closely with engineering, construction, operations, contractors, and client stakeholders to ensure mechanical systems are installed, tested, and operating according to project requirements. Responsibilities Perform commissioning, startup, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment. Support HVAC, chilled water, cooling, pumping, and associated mechanical systems. Review and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment documentation, and construction documents. Participate in equipment startup, functional testing, system verification, and issue resolution. Identify mechanical system deficiencies and work with project teams and contractors to resolve issues. Coordinate commissioning activities with engineering, construction, operations, vendors, and client representatives. Document commissioning activities, test results, deficiencies, and corrective actions. Support field activities in an active, fast-paced construction environment. Communicate project status, technical issues, and commissioning requirements clearly to stakeholders. Qualifications Experience with mechanical system commissioning, startup, testing, or field engineering. Strong working knowledge of chilled water, HVAC, cooling, pumps, and related mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and construction documents. Hands-on troubleshooting and equipment startup experience. Experience working in construction, industrial, manufacturing, mission-critical, or similar technical environments. Strong communication and coordination skills with clients, contractors, engineers, and project teams. Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in Spartanburg, SC. Willingness to travel as project needs require.
Preferred:
Previous data center or mission-critical facility commissioning experience.
