Job Title:
Quality Engineer Summary:
Establish and maintain quality standards for in-house PCB assembly (PCBA), surface-mount technology (SMT) lines, and assembly of product.Reports To:
Taylor Quality Manager Core Responsibilities 1. In-House Assembly Optimization Monitor production processes and assist process owners in assessing issues through data driven improvements. Establish visual inspection standards based onIPC-A-610
(Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies). Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor processes, isolate variation and optimize manufacturing efficiency. Audit electrostatic discharge (ESD) control programs across the manufacturing facility. 2. Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting Drive root-cause analysis on internal test failures, component defects, and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and In-Circuit Test (ICT) escapes. Co-owner with Manufacturing process owners for Corrective Action process to eliminate defects. 3. New Product Introduction Participate in hardware design reviews to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT). Co-lead with Manufacturing Engineer on PFMEAs and Control Plans (CP) to identify and mitigate component and assembly modes early. Define quality gates, prototype inspection criteria and FAI workflows for new product launches. Collaborate with Design Engineering and Test Engineers to establish product test coverage strategies. 4. Travel as required 5. Perform other duties as assigned Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Industrial Engineering or related field. 3+ years in electronics and PCBA manufacturing environments. Certifications (preferred):IPC-A-610
Specialist (CIS) or Trainer (CIT). Certified Quality Engineer (CQE). Six Sigma Green or Black Belt- Deep understanding of SMT infrastructure.
- Ability to read complex electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
- Knowledge of APQP frameworks, PFMEA and Control Plans
- Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities
