Job Description

The City of Clearwater is seeking an Intern to assist our Public Utilities/Engineering team in a variety of projects. The internship will primarily assist with water, wastewater, and reclaimed water projects for the city.

Salary:
Interns may work for an hourly rate, for college credit with a stipend, or as an unpaid intern volunteer. Intern working for an hourly rate: College Student (Freshman or VoTech 1st Year)
  • $22.00/hour College Student (Sophomore or VoTech 2nd Year)
  • $23.00/hour College Student (Junior)
  • $24.00/hour College Student (Senior)

00/hour The duration of the internship is flexible to meet the needs of the department and the student's academic requirements. The maximum work hours are 25 hours per week.
CURRENT LISTING IS FOR THE PUBLIC UTILITIES ENGINEERING DIVISION.
Conducting site visits to the wastewater treatment plants and water production plants to assist with ongoing projects. Analyzing and providing data for current and future projects. Reviewing current project plans and assisting with the planning for future capital improvement projects. Communicating and coordinating with City partners completing construction projects at various facilities. Participating in project meetings and discussions with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders. Preparing written reports and technical documents. Preparing reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations. Shadowing experienced water engineers to learn about their daily work and responsibilities. Assisting with review and markings on FDOT plan sets Assisting with the GIS group on whether certain utilities assets (such as sanitary sewer, water, reclaim, etc.) exist throughout the city. Assisting with review on permitting applications for FDEP Assisting with administrative tasks like filing paperwork, organizing meetings, or preparing presentations.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
Valid State Driver's License Required Education and Experience:
Currently enrolled college student (undergraduate, graduate level, technical/vocational). Preferred majors/concentrations include Engineering, Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, or Biology. Knowledge and experience to successfully fulfill the duties and responsibilities listed above as this position will be ethical, hardworking, and a strong desire to learn. Experience can be personal or professional.
