GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED

The EIT shall have a basic knowledge of civil (water and wastewater) design and engineering techniques to provide technical support and service for the Authority's operations and maintenance staff. The EIT will be responsible for completing tasks directed by the Project Engineer. Tasks may include preparation of engineering studies, infrastructure designs (construction plans and specifications), operating procedures, permits, infrastructure planning, construction estimates, utility mapping, construction inspection and administrative tasks, and/or other technical services related to potable water and wastewater systems including treatment. The EIT shall be capable of communication, both verbal and written, with a variety of individuals including construction contractors, engineers, regulatory personnel, local government agencies, and Authority staff (co-workers, maintenance personnel, and department supervisors). This position includes field and office duties and requires sound technical knowledge with practical application to specific projects.

DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Applicant shall have a Bachelor's college degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited 4-year (minimum) engineering program. Experience with word processing, spreadsheet management, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS is desired. A basic knowledge of applicable regulatory (MSDEQ, MSDH, and EPA) requirements for water and wastewater infrastructure is desired. Applicant shall be capable of completing all requirements for Professional Engineer Licensure within forty-eight (48) months of date of hire.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS MAY INCLUDE

(But are not limited to): 1. Technology skills as noted above. 2. Must be able to lift and carry light loads. 3. Familiar with the rules and regulations of the EPA and DEQ. 4. Familiar with engineering applications of scientific and mathematical models and principles. 5. Must be able to perform resident inspections of construction activities. 6. Must be able to perform engineering design, planning, studies, and cost estimates. 7. Must be able to administer loans, grants, engineering, and construction contracts. 8. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. 9. Must be insurable on Authority's auto insurance policy. 10. Must be able to work inside and outside. 11. Must maintain a residence which allows a reasonable response time.
