About the
Opportunity:
A well-established, multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm is seeking a motivated Project Designer - Water/Wastewater Engineer to join its growing team in Toms River, New Jersey . This position is an excellent opportunity for a civil engineer with experience in water and wastewater infrastructure to contribute to projects that support reliable drinking water systems, effective wastewater management, environmental sustainability, and long-term community development. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on water and wastewater planning, design, hydraulic analysis, system evaluations, and infrastructure improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities Support the planning, evaluation, and design of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Assist with long-term water and wastewater system planning, including treatment, pumping, storage, transmission, collection, and distribution systems. Perform water and wastewater system capacity evaluations related to infrastructure improvements, service extensions, development projects, and anticipated system growth. Assist with hydraulic modeling and analysis of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Evaluate existing infrastructure based on system capacity, asset condition, operational performance, resiliency, and efficiency. Identify infrastructure deficiencies and assist in developing practical recommendations and improvement strategies. Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, exhibits, plans, specifications, and other project documentation. Assist senior engineers and project managers with comprehensive water and wastewater master planning studies and targeted system evaluations. Participate in field investigations, site assessments, and infrastructure condition evaluations as needed. Support asset management and infrastructure planning initiatives. Coordinate with clients, municipalities, regulatory agencies, contra ctors, and internal project teams. Apply applicable engineering standards, industry practices, and environmental regulations to project work. Assist with multiple projects while meeting established schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. 3+ years of professional engineering or design experience , preferably involving water, wastewater, water resources, or municipal infrastructure. EIT certification preferred; Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus . Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred. Familiarity with hydraulic modeling software and water/wastewater system analysis is highly desirable. GIS experience is a plus. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, municipal engineering practices, and applicable environmental regulations. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to prepare clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a civil or environmental engineer who wants to build a long-term career in water and wastewater engineering . You should be comfortable working with engineering plans and technical data and interested in developing your capabilities in hydraulic modeling, system master planning, infrastructure assessment, and municipal water/wastewater design. Experience with water distribution systems, sanitary sewer systems, pumping stations, treatment facilities, storage, asset management, or municipal infrastructure planning is particularly valuable.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
