Position Summary:
Associate will provide assistance to the EHS Manager to plan, direct, and implement Lawter's environmental, health, and safety programs and Document Management System to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident free work environment, and to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: management of the Document Management System, safety and environmental training, leading meetings, EHS inspections and accident/incident investigations.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the EHS Manager in implementation of the EHS Program.
- Assist the EHS Manager in the development and implementation of the Facility Document Management System.
- Review PPE requirements and order/inventory PPE as required by facility needs and
OSHA/EPA
requirements.- Assist the EHS Manager in conducting and documenting EHS Training and meetings.
- Conduct EHS inspections and audits in the plant to ensure that the plant meets the compliance requirements outlined in OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Perform and document EHS new-hire and contractor orientations
- Perform and document incident investigations including root cause analysis with emphasis on eliminating reoccurrence per the SOP.
- Conduct audits of existing procedures for effectiveness (to include lockout/tagout; material handling; confined space operations; and material handling).
- Assist the EHS Manager with managing worker's compensation cases.
- Assist the EHS Manager to review and up-date plant Job Hazard Analysis, Safe Work Procedures, and Health and Safety Programs.
- Develop and revise EHS Procedures as required by the EHS Manager.
- Perform Wastewater and Stormwater Sampling as required by applicable permits.
- Provide Safety Oversight during some weekend and night shifts.
- Assists the EHS Manager during agency inspections by serving as a secondary point of contact for regulatory personnel and gathering the necessary documentation to prove compliance with OSHA standards and environmental permits.
- Assist the EHS Manager with the implementation of the hazardous material and waste program.
- Assist the EHS Manager in the development and implementation of the EHS Safety committee.
- Assist with planning and organizing plant emergency action plan drills.
- Assist with planning and organizing plant tours with local fire department, EMA, and EMS.
- Perform additional tasks as required by the needs of the company
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree is Occupational Health and Safety preferred or equivalent experience and education. Strong working knowledge/experience of OSHA and EPA, state and federal regulations. Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.- Motivated, self-starter that works well with individuals and teams

- Proven ability to conduct compliance audits including 5S, Stormwater, Safety, and Environmental.
- Manage regulatory platforms including EPA CDX, NetDMR, and Tier II/TRI reporting systems.
- Execute compliance reporting workflows for SARA Title III (312/313) obligations.
On-The-Job Training:
Training Requirements include: OSHA 30, New Employee Orientation Training, Hazard Communication Training, Lawter's Life Saving Rules, LOTO Training (Affected and Other), Respirator Training and Fit Testing(if required), Fork Lift Training (if required). Additional training may be assigned based on job duties, changes in responsibilities, safety considerations, or at the discretion of the Supervisor, Production Manager, or EHS Manager.Working Conditions:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside the office to accomplish job tasks.Language Skills:
Strong oral and written English communication skills are required.Mathematical Skills:
The ability to successfully complete moderately complex arithmetic calculations. Knowledge of the metric system units (length, area, volume, capacity, mass and weight) and U.S. equivalents.Reasoning Ability:
- Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures
- Skill in organizing material, information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort
- Ability to analyze information in order to identify potential problems or discrepancies.
