641POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Director of Academic Support is responsible for the following areas: curriculum, instruction, professional learning, and certification. The Executive Director of Academic Support is responsible for assisting the Assistant Superintendent of School Improvement substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining the best possible services and efficient operation of the district.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Georgia Tier 2 Leadership Certificate. Three years of successful experience in curriculum development and/or school improvement. Experience working with a diverse group of people. Embodies the core values of the district; relational, purposeful, reflective, resourceful, courageous and accountable. Must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function of the position. Must be able to provide a criminal background check with results that adhere to Bulloch County Board of Education Policy GAK(1).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience at the district level. Experience as a school principal.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Embraces and promotes the vision and mission of the school system. Supervises assigned staff and monitors the progress of identified work tasks based on alignment with the system's strategic plan. Ensures curriculum, assessment and instructional practices are aligned to state standards. Oversees professional learning for the district, including mentoring and induction programs. Oversees certification for the district. Establishes goals, objectives and short-range and long-range plans. Oversees the development, maintenance and refinement of programs and services within assigned areas. Coaches and builds capacity among department leaders. Provides leadership and guidance for school leaders and assigned personnel. Uses data to drive informed decision making and allocation of resources. Communicates effectively and appropriately with students, parents/guardians, district and school personnel and other stakeholders to foster positive interactions and promote a positive climate. Understands board policies, communicates guidelines inherent in those policies and oversees implementation of the policies. Attends and participates in regular and special meetings of the Board. Evaluates the effectiveness of all areas under his/her supervision. Performs other duties as requested.PERFORMANCE FACTORS

Ability to adjust work processes without incident when new and unexpected directions are given relative to a project that may be in process. Ability to complete work tasks without being given precise directions relative to work steps or the final project.Organizational Skills:
Ability to establish priorities, simultaneously manage multiple tasks; and deliver a quality work product by a designated deadline.Public Contact:
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues, parents, and other individuals within and external to the school system. Ability to demonstrate professionalism while interacting with others and to maintain constructive working relationships.Attendance and Dependability:
Ability to report to work at the scheduled time and to seldom be absent from work. Demonstrate prompt and regular work attendance. Process appropriate paperwork to authorize absences in accordance with school system procedures.
