Job Description
Job Summary:
The Family Therapist provides relationally focused, evidence-based care to individuals and families across all treatment tracks, including mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. The Family Therapist is responsible for delivering individual, couples, and family therapy services, with a strong emphasis on improving family systems, communication patterns, and interpersonal dynamics. This role includes active participation in interdisciplinary collaboration, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical support throughout the client's course of care. Tasks & Responsibilities Essential Duties Provide individual, couples, and family therapy to clients across all programs (e.g., mental health, substance use, dual diagnosis). Facilitate regular family therapy sessions to address relational issues, communication breakdowns, and systemic concerns. Serve as a liaison between the program and families, offering education, resources, and support throughout the treatment process. Plan and facilitate Family Nights, including educational presentations, multi-family groups, or workshops. Participate in the design, coordination, and facilitation of Family Programming including structured sessions, experiential activities, and therapeutic breakouts on a weekly basis, as well as periodic Saturdays. Attend and contribute to weekly treatment team meetings, providing clinical insight on family systems and relational factors affecting client progress. Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and support staff to ensure comprehensive care. Complete all required clinical documentation in a timely manner, including session notes, progress updates, and discharge summaries. Provide input on program policies, curricula, and best practices to enhance family involvement and therapeutic impact. Participate in outcome evaluations related to family programming and adjust interventions accordingly. Assess and intervene appropriately in situations involving safety concerns, family conflict, or escalated client behaviors. Provide support during crisis interventions in collaboration with the clinical team. Additional Duties Assists and covers other staff when necessary to maintain high productivity and efficiency in the department. Complete 20 - 30 direct client services per week. Average rating of 4.3 of 5 or higher on client satisfaction surveys. Documentation completed within 48 hours of event occurrence. Chart audit scores at or above 3.5% of 5% each quarter. Appropriate documentation of and adherence to processes related to higher level of care recommendations and high-risk reporting.Qualifications Education:
Master's Degree Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Counseling or related field.LAMFT/LMFT
Preferred. Associate License required (LAMFT, LAC, LSW), full licensed preferredExperience:
2+ years of experience providing family counseling services within the mental health field; experience and training specifically with family therapy approaches and modalities.Computer literate:
