Crop ID Crop or Agricultural Activity Wage Offer Per Piece Rate Units/Special Pay Information Wage for H2A workers in CA $16.90 Hour Wage for domestic workers in CA $16.90 Hour Avocados $60.00 Piece Rate $60.00/bin. 0.33 bin per hour. Piece rate ranging from $60•70/bin to harvest avocados paid depending upon the variety and number of fruit set per tree. Rate will be determined by the contractor in consultation with the grower and will be communicated with workers prior to starting harvest for the day.Bin measurements:
46inX46inX25in with 1000 lb capacity. Estimated hourly rate equivalent is $21.66•$23.33/hr based on workers filling 1/3 bin/hr on average. $16.90 guaranteed. Employee will perform a variety of agricultural duties including planting, harvesting, pruning, ranch maintenance, weed control using weed whackers, and irrigation installation across avocado fields, lemon and citrus orchards, vineyards, and agave fields. Harvesting duties require workers to climb a three-point ladder as needed to pick fruit and use proper hand shears for harvesting lemons by cutting the fruit rather than pulling it by hand. Harvested fruit is placed into a picking sack worn on the front of the body with straps around the shoulders and back for support. When full, the sack may weigh up to 50 pounds and must be emptied into bins in the manner instructed by the supervisor. This process is repeated until bins are full. Workers will need to walk around the tree, under the tree, within tree branches, and from a ladder to pick designated fruit. Tree maintenance duties include using hand shears and hand loppers to skirt lemon trees. Employees will work in conditions normally associated with uneven fields and the California climate, including exposure to dust, extreme temperatures and humidity, wind, and at times high levels of pollen. Workers are required to wear safety protection at all times, including hard hats, gloves, protective sleeves, knee pads, and eye protection. Workers should wear clothing suited to these conditions, including closed-toe shoes, hats, gloves, protective sleeves, and jackets that provide adequate protection while allowing freedom of movement. Employee Job duties will consist of, Harvesting, Pruning, Ranch Maintenance, Weed control with weed whackers, And irrigation install on grower avocado, lemon and citrus orchards. One month of verifiable farm work experience required. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. In order to perform this kind of work, workers must be able to work outside for a minimum of seven hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to conduct harvest activities, including working rapidly and skillfully with hands. The worker will be provided with all necessary equipment to perform these harvest-related tasks. Workers may be subject to mandatory drug testing if involved in a reportable accident or upon reasonable suspicion at employers expense. All drug testing will be conducted post-hire, and it is not part of the interview process. The employer is responsible for paying for drug testing. H-2A General Assurances (guarantees to workers) Housing The employer must provide free housing to all workers who are not reasonably able to return to their residences the same day. Meals The employer must provide either three meals a day to each worker or furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities. If meals are provided, the employer may charge each worker a certain amount per day for the three meals. Transportation After a worker has completed 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer must reimburse the worker for the cost of transportation and subsistence form the place of recruitment to the place or work, if such costs were borne by the worker. The employer must provide free transportation between the employer's housing and the work site for any worker who is provided housing. Upon completion of the work contract, the employer must pay the worker's subsistence and return transportation to the place of recruitment. Special conditions apply when the worker will not be returning to the place of recruitment because of another job. Workers Compensation Insurance The employer must provide workers' compensation insurance where it is required by law. Tools and Supplies The employer must furnish at no cost to the worker all tools and supplies necessary to carry out the work unless it is common practice in the area and occupation for the worker to provide certain items. Three-fourth Guarantee The employer must guarantee to offer each worker employment for at least three-fourths of the workdays in the work contract period and any extensions. If the employer affords less employment, then the employer must pay the amount which the worker would have earned had the worker been employed the guaranteed number of days. Other Conditions The employer must provide the worker a complete statement of hours worked and related earnings on each payday. The employer must pay the worker at least twice monthly or more frequently if it is in the prevailing practice to do so. The employer must provide a copy of a work contract or the job order to each worker. The employer shall comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment• related laws and regulations, including employment-related health and safety laws. No U.S. worker will be rejected for or terminated from employment for other than a lawful-job-related reason and notification of all rejections or terminations shall be made to EDD.
