is seeking an experienced Internal Accountant to join our manufacturing team in Huntsville, AL. This is the sole accounting position for the company and is responsible for the full accounting cycle — accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-directed accountant who is comfortable owning every function end to end in a small-business manufacturing environment, works accurately with minimal oversight, and handles confidential financial and payroll information with discretion. Responsibilities Perform all day-to-day accounting functions for the company, including AP, AR, general ledger, and month-end close Process accounts payable: verify vendor invoices against purchase orders and receiving documentation, code and enter invoices, and issue payments on schedule Manage accounts receivable: generate and issue customer invoices from shipments, monitor aging, apply payments, and follow up on past-due accounts Process payroll in house, including timekeeping review, overtime, PTO accrual, payroll tax deposits and filings, 401(k) contribution remittance, and year-end W-2 preparation Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts on a monthly basis Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Monitor cash position and prepare cash flow projections to support purchasing and operations decisions Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules Prepare and file sales and use tax returns, business license renewals, property tax filings, and annual 1099s Coordinate with the company's outside CPA on year-end closing, tax preparation, and any reviews or audits Support workers' compensation audits, insurance renewals, and other annual filings Maintain organized, accurate, and auditable financial records and supporting documentation Support invoicing and documentation requirements for DoD and government contract work Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, payroll, and employee information Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of full-cycle accounting experience, including AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business — or equivalent hands-on accounting experience Demonstrated ability to independently own the accounting function for a company or business unit Hands-on experience processing payroll in house, including payroll tax deposits and filings Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively across departments Proven discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with JobBOSS and/or CenterPoint Accounting Accounting experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, or job shop environment Experience with job costing, work-in-process, and inventory valuation Experience pulling shop floor and production data from an ERP/MRP system into accounting Familiarity with invoicing and documentation requirements for DoD, defense, or government contract work Experience with Alabama state and local tax filing requirements Physical Requirements Ability to work at a desk and computer for extended periods Occasional walking on the shop floor and in receiving and inventory areas Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment Schedule Monday
