A master's degree in accounting may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Preferred Qualifications Job Description Summary The University of South Alabama's Academic Affairs Office is seeking to hire an Accountant II. Interested candidates should apply to be considered. Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position. Essential Functions Performs various accounting functions for the Office of Academic Affairs. Serves as the contact person for general accounting questions for units reporting to the Division of Academic Affairs. Maintains financial records of assigned activities. Reviews personnel paperwork for accuracy to include EPAFs and PAs and works with departments to correct any errors. Runs processes and reports in Banner related to paying part-time faculty (FLAC) and communicates with colleges to correct errors. Reviews and approves requests for changes to the chart of accounts for the Division of Academic Affairs. Assists in monitoring departmental emails daily to distribute, follow-up, and ensure that documents are processed timely and correctly. Reviews transfer requests. Reviews payments and transactions in Concur Payment System. Prepares routine and special journal entries as needed. Assists in financial analysis as directed by management including pulling data and preparing summaries from appropriate reporting systems, as well as balancing and reconciliation. Reconciles monthly department transactions. Periodically provides training to support staff in units reporting to the Division of Academic Affairs. Assists with maintaining and closing out departmental budgets. Meet with financial support staff as needed. Communicates in person, on the phone, and by email. Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required. Related duties as required.
