Job Description
Conway, AR $65K/Year Position Overview Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join their growing professional services firm. Reporting to the Accounting Manager/Controller, the Staff Accountant will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close activities, managing accounting transactions, and assisting with client billing and financial reporting. This position is well-suited for a candidate with 2-4 years of accounting experience, particularly within a professional services, consulting, law, engineering, or other client-based environment. The ideal candidate understands the accounting needs of billable-hour and project-based businesses, including work-in-progress (WIP) tracking, client billing, unbilled revenue, and revenue recognition. Hands-on experience with an ERP system is required. Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close activities. Maintain the general ledger within the firm's ERP system and ensure financial records are accurate. Assist with client billing, including WIP analysis and unbilled revenue tracking. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions through the ERP system. Support timekeeping and utilization reporting related to client engagements. Assist with revenue recognition in accordance with firm policies and generally accepted accounting principles. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules. Assist with financial statements and internal management reports using ERP reporting tools. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Assist with audit requests and provide documentation to external auditors. Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable regulations. Assist with sales/use tax filings and other regulatory reporting as needed. Maintain ERP data integrity, including the chart of accounts, vendor and client records, and workflow approvals. Support ERP system upgrades, integrations, and process improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, accuracy, and efficiency. Perform additional accounting duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably within a professional services firm such as accounting, law, consulting, engineering, or a similar environment. Hands-on ERP system experience is required. Experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Deltek, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Workday, or similar systems is preferred. Experience with professional services or project-based ERP modules, including WIP, project accounting, or resource management, is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of WIP accounting, client billing cycles, and time-and-expense systems is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling. Strong understanding of general accounting principles. Experience with ERP-driven month-end close processes and system-generated reconciliations. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. CPA candidate or progress toward CPA licensure is a plus, but not required.
