Job Summary Staff Accountant Job Type:
Full-Time Department:
Accounting We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position will primarily support Accounts Payable and Payroll , with a strong focus on accurate data entry, organization, and timely processing. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to build a strong foundation in construction accounting . As you become familiar with our systems and processes, you'll have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, learn new areas of accounting, and contribute to process improvements across the department. What You'll Do Accounts Payable Process invoices by routing them for approval and matching invoices to outstanding purchase orders. Enter approved invoices into the accounting system accurately and efficiently. Manage weekly check runs, including selecting invoices for payment, printing checks, gathering supporting documentation, and uploading payments to the bank. Reconcile vendor statements against outstanding invoices and resolve discrepancies. Complete new vendor credit applications. Allocate credit card, fuel card, and other expenses to the appropriate expense accounts. Manage subcontractor lien waivers. Manage positive pay exceptions. Run job cost reports for Project Managers as requested. Manage year-end 1099 processing. Maintain and reconcile petty cash transactions. Payroll Enter weekly employee timecards and verify hours for accuracy. Track vacation, sick time, and perfect attendance balances. Maintain employee attendance records. Process changes to 401(k) contributions, tax withholdings, and other deductions. Update employee direct deposit information as requested. Process weekly payroll payments. Process payroll advances as requested. Respond to Workers' Compensation wage requests. Prepare and distribute W-2s at year end. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with numbers and recurring deadlines.
Qualifications and Skills:
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Comfortable entering and reviewing large amounts of data accurately. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling payroll and employee information. Strong follow-through and ability to meet recurring deadlines. Ability to identify discrepancies and follow through to resolution. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel . Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Project Managers, vendors, employees, and the accounting team. Previous experience in accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, or construction accounting is a plus. Experience with SAGE or construction accounting software is a plus. Why Join Us?
