This position plays a key role in the monthly close process, balance sheet reconciliations, cash activity monitoring, financial analysis, audit support, and continuous improvement of accounting processes. The Senior Accountant will work closely with Accounting, Finance, and operational teams to ensure transactions are properly recorded, accounting issues are resolved timely, and financial information is accurate and reliable. Key Responsibilities Perform key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close , including preparation and posting of journal entries. Maintain and monitor activity across two primary bank accounts , performing daily cash checks and coordinating with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to ensure all cash activity is recorded accurately and timely. Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations , investigate variances, and resolve outstanding or aged reconciling items. Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies . Prepare accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed asset activity, payroll-related entries, and other recurring accounting entries. Analyze P&L and balance sheet fluctuations and provide explanations for significant or unusual variances. Support the preparation and review of monthly financial statements and management reporting. Perform and support intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple entities and business units. Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, FP&A, and operational teams to research and resolve accounting issues. Support accounting activities related to acquisitions, integrations, new locations, and organizational changes, as applicable. Assist with annual financial statement audits, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation requested by external auditors. Support tax, insurance, banking, and other financial reporting requirements as needed. Ensure compliance with established internal controls, approval requirements, and accounting procedures . Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase automation, strengthen controls, and improve the efficiency of the monthly close. Assist with the development and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures. Provide accounting support and guidance to junior members of the accounting team. Participate in special projects, system implementations, process improvements, and financial analyses as requested by management. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field . Minimum 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting . Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles . Demonstrated experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and financial data analysis. Experience working with ERP or accounting systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities with limited supervision while effectively collaborating with Accounting, Finance, and operational teams. Preferred NetSuite experience. Experience in a multi-location and multi-entity organization . Experience working in a private equity-backed or high-growth organization. Experience in construction, landscaping, field services, or a similar industry. Experience supporting acquisitions and post-acquisition integrations. Experience identifying and implementing accounting process improvements or automation. Performance Expectations Success in this role will be measured by: Accuracy and timeliness of the monthly financial close. Quality and completeness of balance sheet account reconciliations. Timely resolution of aged or outstanding reconciling items. Accuracy and reliability of financial reporting. Compliance with accounting policies and internal controls. Responsiveness to audit, management, and operational requests. Identification and implementation of meaningful process improvements. Ability to independently manage assigned responsibilities with limited supervision . Ability to effectively partner with Accounting, Finance, and operational teams.
